I am a second-year graduate student in UC Irvine's math department. I am interested in using mathematical models to build “recommender systems.” These systems provide the basis for online interaction, and in doing so, they mirror and shape the development of 21st-century culture. By applying these systems to art historical data there would exist a quantitative approach for measuring the success of theories in the field. This may lead to a greater cross-pollination between contemporary data science and the humanities.

During my undergrad at NYU, I double majored in mathematics and art history (with a healthy dose of computer science). Though I am first and foremost a puzzle-solver, a lifelong fascination with aesthetic experiences and art-making has led me toward my current interests.

When I’m not learning about the math that makes such analyses possible, I practice creativity on a personal level by making textile art and shooting film photography. My time off is more like "aggressively resting," and often includes travel and hiking. I treasure most my memories of the sublime beauty beheld on long hikes through America's deserts.
